Emotional Intimacy >>Physical Intimacy

Recently I came across one of the posts of my fellow bloggers...in which she has mentioned about Emotional Intimacy..and after reading it this word was doing rounds in my mind.

But What exactly Emotional Intimacy is  ??

Seriously saying I didn't knew about it ...we all may be going through this phase in our life or have gone through this ...but untill I read about it and gone through it ...I might never knew that how important is Emotional intimacy than physical intimacy.

According to my understanding..it is a phase in your life ..where you are naked of all emotions..I mean ...you have nothing hidden inside you ...you and your partner/husband becomes so transparent with each other ... sharing each and every phase ..part .. experience... whether it's good experience or bad experience..is being shared with each other.

That's when I can say .. emotional intimacy had been achieved..may be to some extent..or may be fully.

It's means your level of relationship has been matured level.
And when you are in this phase or have achieved it ...you guys becomes best friends ... sharing everything..having no burden inside you.

There is no scope of judgement...you both don't judge each other on your past experiences...like best friends.

And if there is anything..he/she will be the first person to explode everything.. whatever is going on within us.

Emotional intimacy is much more than physical intimacy.

There will no scope for any insecurities
And emotions can be shared freely with out any second thought.

  1. Emotional intimacy is so important in a relationship. However in the modern context, it takes a back seat.

  2. I wish we all could have that emotional intimacy where you could unload your dark emotions without that leading to a split in the relationship. Maybe this is something that comes from acceptance and trust that comes from unconditional love.

  3. I love the concept of this. People began to understand how important it is to have a clear mind of our own emotions.

  4. I like this in principle, but I feel sometimes, some things need to be kept away as well, like forgotten and left behind. Not everything needs to be shared, unless it's toxic and needs letting go.

  5. For me Sonu, emotional intimacy has always mattered over physical although physical is important too. The way I am wired, I can't be physical with a person unless I feel something for him that stems from my emotions.

However, I think every couple should take a call whether to bring back ghosts of the past or not cuz most times it doesn't go that well and may shake the foundation of the relationship altogether and even if that doesn't happen over the years there is bound to come a time when during a heated argument or a fight, either person may bring up the others past. So whatever we do, we must do it wisely.

  10. Absolutely.. Emotional intimacy is so important. It's like building this super strong bond with our partner where we can be totally open and honest about everything. Your post really got me thinking about how valuable that connection is. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on it.

  11. Emotional intimacy is a must for our relationship with our partners. Emotional intimacy strengthens the bond between partners, creating a deeper sense of connection and closeness. Sharing intimate thoughts and experiences helps them to feel understood, appreciated, and valued by each other. I dont feel scared to talk to my husband if even anything went wrong by me. What goes in my mind is that '' He is the person with whom I can open my heart and share all my feelings be it silly to matured in a carefree manner and he will listen with attention." That what matters more to me and I consider it as my emotional intimacy with husband which is far more stronger than being physical.

  12. Physical intimacy alone does not contribute to the success of a relationship. Emotional intimacy adds that extra touch.

I'm one of those who believe that emotional connect is more important than physical connect... you can only be vulnerable in front of someone who won't judge you and who you re confident won't leave your hand when you show them the real you ... your post made me realize this at a deeper level.. appreciate you sharing your thoughts

I guess both are important. Emotional and Physical intimacy. But emotional stands out as its not always possible to show physical affection or love at every time, an emotional connect and empathy surely go a long way.

  20. That is true. Physical intimacy is superficial if there is no emotional intimacy. Not everyone is comfortable sharing everything but that is what marriage is all about.

  26. Emotional intimacy is hard to find but is very essential in any relationship. I personally feel that a couple should have the capability to accept pros and cons of each other so that one feels freedom to say something apart from being judgemental.
