It doesn't come to its form very easily.
Takes time to settle down as if sand particles are disturbed by the movement of vehicle.
You try very very hard to wrap it to some extent..but during work ..whole attention goes to it.
It's an attention seeker..who doesn't want you to focus anywhere else.
Although i love saree ..but wrapped on others not on self.
As it makes me ..."khoon k aasu rula deti hain subah subah".
Don't want to come to its form and settle down soon.
Story of me and saree ..goes on every day.
Cannot explain ki kitni mushaqat karni padti hain isse mannane mein.
Hai re saree..phir bhi nahi aati apne ghere mein.
Subah subah apne mein uljhati hoon...koi kitna bhi chahe phir bhi usko na aasani se wrap hoti ho.
Hai re saree ..tu mere subah ki saathi gayi ho bann...
Tujh bin na jaye mera din dhal.
Hai ..re saree..kyu nahi aati ho haath jaldi mein.

I enjoyed it. It was truly good... ππ
ReplyDeleteI love saree too but find it hard to wear.
Very true. Me too take one hr to wrap up saree. But I do love to wear itπ
ReplyDeleteThat was a nice candid rant about draping a saree. Actually, it takes only 2 minutes to drape. I wore a saree for the first time when i was 16 and learnt from my friend who was a pro. But now I don't wear anymore.
ReplyDeletelol Sonu... sounds like my story... I love wearing a saree but the headache of draping and carrying it all day... phew!... but enjoyed reading your poetryπ... kaveri.
ReplyDeleteI also love wearing sarees but can totally relate to these feelings
ReplyDeleteThat was fun to read. Sarees are not that difficult to wear. Before I fractured my leg, I used to only wear sarees.
ReplyDeleteHaha. There was a time when I had a similar story. Now, I find it easy to wear and carry.
ReplyDeleteTotally unexpected from my mom to me n to the future im sure this saree battle will continue as much as I love saree i dread wearing one π€£π€£π€£
ReplyDeleteππππππI am reading and laughing as I can relate to this π€£π€£ and my hubby is staring at me and must be wondering like "early morning itself, what happened to her"... really enjoyed.. Thank you for my morning dose of smiles and laughter.
ReplyDeletehehehe, loved reading this. Saree is a beautiful attire but the amount of time it takes for me to drape it makes me shudder in fear, lol.
ReplyDeleteI just love sarees. I got into the habit quite early since my first job required wearing them. But I can totally understand where you are coming from :)
ReplyDeleteHilarious relationship! I have stopped wearing a saree since a long time back as I never get a hang of it. My mom used to help me with it but after her demise I have given up on it completely.
ReplyDeleteSaris are pretty but they sure do take time to wear! Especially when you want it to be stunning and not run of the mill! Cute lines! Brinda ritecontent
ReplyDeleteHahaha.....I gave you suggession of wrap on saree....you can get do that dear fir wo ghere se bahar nhi ja sakegi...
ReplyDeleteHa ha..your post has remind me my early marriage days when I used to have hard time while wearing sari. yes sari is beautiful ethnic wear but it is not easy to tie it properly in day to day life with hectic routine.
ReplyDeleteDraping saree is an art I feel!! You have really put it so wonderfully. love to read more such posts over here.
ReplyDeleteHa ha this was fun to read. This was me earlier I use to dread when there was an opportunity, but now I long for opportunities to drape after mastering it
ReplyDeleteSindhu
Honestly, I'm quite the opposite. I love wearing saris and can get it right in the first attempt in less than 3 minutes. You can get prestitched ones also, no?
ReplyDeleteYou have captured real struggle of wearing saree in the initial years, yes at start it is annoying, but once you get used to it , it is easy wear , stylish and elegant.
ReplyDeleteIt's quite a candid and honest rant, drapping is 2 mins job, but knowing how to mater that is years of suffering
ReplyDeleteHahahha.... This is true but my love of Saree is beyond words. I never struggled as I love it as it is the most grateful attire we have today.
ReplyDeletehaha! You have nailed it absolutely! It takes me also time to drape it and get it right! there is no doubt its a gorgeous thing but it takes effort or making it into a habit.
ReplyDeleteHaha this post is so relatable. Even I take an hour or more to get ready while wearing a saree but as a fact the most compliments I get are also when I wear a saree so it’s totally worth it!
ReplyDeleteHahaha! I'm not a saree person either...!
